Costessey's mix of post-war council-built properties and newer private estates means chimney stacks here come in all shapes and sizes, and plenty of them have not seen a working fire in decades.
The older parts of Old Costessey have solid brick semis and detached houses with stacks that were built for open fireplaces now long converted or boarded over. Meanwhile, some of the infill development along Longwater Lane includes properties where a stub stack was left in place during earlier refurbishments and has quietly deteriorated ever since. Removing the stack eliminates the leak risk, reduces the load on the roof structure, and tidies up the roofline considerably.
We are based in Wymondham, which puts Costessey well within our regular working area. We will survey the stack, explain exactly what the take-down involves, and give you a written quote with no obligation.
