Bowthorpe is a planned residential district on Norwich's south-western fringe, built largely from the late 1970s onwards as a self-contained community with its own local centre. The housing is almost entirely modern by Norfolk standards - mostly brick-built detached and semi-detached properties with concrete interlocking tile roofs, plus a proportion of social housing from the same era. Because so much of Bowthorpe was built within a relatively short period, many roofs across the area are ageing at a similar rate, and we are seeing increasing demand for full re-roofs and felt underlayer replacements in properties built during the 1980s.
